A Denim Essential

A wardrobe staple that I consider a must have is a denim jacket. I've had mine for quite few years now (which is totally not like me) and use it repeatedly in the spring and fall months and make sure it's tossed in the backseat in the case of a cool summer night. I believe a great denim jacket can pull a look together and make a dressy outfit appear more effortless and add a finished touch to a casual look.

Wear it as you would a great boyfriend blazer and pair it with everything from sheath dresses, to full skirts and linen pants. I went for a hip length jacket, in a medium blue wash which works well with warm and cool tones. When wearing my denim jacket, the collar must be popped and I unbutton the cuffs and roll them up at least once. I've made a personal style rule to never button my jacket, so when it's cooler out I accesorize with a pashmina around my neck to ward off the chill.
